Homemade Bread is something everyone should know how to make, Its healthier than store bought, and makes your house smell wonderful while it bakes.
Ingredients: 8-8 1/2 Cups All-Purpose Flour
2 1/4 tsp. Yeast
2 1/2 tsp. Salt
1 1/2 Cups Water
1 1/2 Cups Milk
1/4 Cup Vegetable Oil
1/4 Cup Honey
In a large bowl, combine 3 1/2 cups Flour
The Yeast
And Salt
In a separate pan, heat together the Water
Milk
Oil
And Honey until very warm (120-130F)
Gradually add the warm liquid to the dry mix, beating on medium speed
Scrape the sides occasionally
Add 1 more cup of Flour and beat another two minutes on high speed
Stir in just enough Flour to form a soft Dough, then turn out onto a lightly Floured surface
Add more flour and knead until smooth and elastic
Form the Dough into a ball
Cover and let rise on the Floured surface for ten minutes
Divide the Dough in half and roll into two Loaves
Place in two greased loaf pans and let rise until double in size (30-60 minutes). Bake in a preheated oven at 375F for 25-35 minutes (or until golden brown). [For a nice crispy crust, use a spray bottle filled with water to spritz the loaves and the inside of the oven to create steam before closing the oven and baking]
Remove the Bread from the oven and let cool on a wire rack
Once cool, slice to any thickness desired and enjoy. (for best results let cool over night)
I have made this recipe several times, its consistent and always tastes great. Once you've made it a few times and get the hang of it, try adding in different spices and ingredients to give it your own signature flavor.
