Monkey Bread

Despite its name, there isn't the first bit of Monkey in this recipe. That didn't stop me however from gathering the needed ingredients to make this wonderful sweet bread that is great with coffee over breakfast, or with a glass of milk before bed.

Ingredients: 30 Canned Biscuits (flaky works the best)
2 tsp. Cinnamon
1 Stick Butter (or margarine)
1 Cup Sugar
1 Cup Brown Sugar
1 Cup Chopped Nuts (optional)

Remove the Biscuits from the cans and cut into fourths

In a separate bowl combine the Sugar

And Cinnamon

Roll the Biscuit pieces into the Sugar mix

Begin layering them into a Greased and Floured tube pan

Alternate between the Biscuit layers with the Chopped Nuts

In a separate pan melt the Butter

Then add the Brown Sugar

Bring to a boil

Then pour over the Biscuits

Once evenly coated, bake in a preheated oven at 350F for 25-35 minutes

Remove from the oven and let sit in the pan 10 minutes before serving

I have had store bought Monkey Bread many times before, but never a homemade one. After whipping up this quick and simple recipe, I don't think I'll ever buy one again. It has the consistency of a doughnut with the flavor of a cinnamon bun, the best of both worlds.
